The North Witney Action Group was formed by local residents in 2014 following WODC's publication of the first 'Draft 2031 Local Plan'. Since then, NWAG has submitted ten Local Plan Consultation responses to WODC, arguing the case against the highly flawed North Witney Strategic Development Area (NWSDA), along with the associated West End Link Road (WEL2) — and has objected to every planning application for the site.
Who we are
NWAG is a group of local residents from Witney and Hailey. In 2015 it raised a petition against the NWSDA and WEL2, gathering over 1,000 signatures from local residents. The petition was presented to WODC, the then Prime Minister and local MP David Cameron, and the Government Inspector of the Draft Local Plan at the 2017 Public Hearing. A later petition reached 1,775 signatures — past the threshold at which WODC has to formally reconsider.
The Local Plan Public Inquiry was held at WODC's Council Offices in July 2017 — NWAG attended every day for the two weeks — and the plan was adopted by WODC in September 2018 as the new 2031 Local Plan. It is now being renewed as the 2041/2043 Plan, and NWAG continues to respond to every consultation.
